Robert Allen Richards, of Pisgah Forest, NC, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on March 25, 1951, Robert was the beloved son of the late Jack Richards and Mary Murphy Richards.
Robert was a proud graduate of Granite Falls High School and Appalachian State University. He dedicated his professional life to education, retiring as a high school science teacher from Rosman High School in Transylvania County, NC, where he made a lasting impact on his students and colleagues. Some of his favorite memories were taking his students to Washington, D.C. each year.
A man who deeply appreciated friendship and fellowship, Robert cherished his time with friends on and off the golf course. Robert also embraced a life of adventure. He was a true world traveler and photographer, achieving the remarkable feat of visiting all seven continents.
He is survived by his loyal canine companion, Rocky, and many beloved first cousins: Peggy Williamson, Kenneth Teague, Mary Bowman, Janie Crompton, Jim Teague, Barbara Teague, Frank Richards, Darlene Shannonhouse, Mike Richards, Butch Mullen, LaRae Coile, Rita Richards, Max Richards, Debi Hawkins, Tina Abee, and Carla McKee, as well as his half-brother, Wayne Taylor.
