Robert Wilson

Lenoir- Mr. Robert Paul Wilson, age 79, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice. He was born in Yancey County on July 14, 1938 to the late Arnold Wilson and Vivian Young Wilson.He was married to Susan McIntosh Wilson of the home for 59 years. Mr. Wilson was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church of Whitnel, where he served in many capacities over the years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Sheldon Harmon and brother-in-law, Thomas McIntosh. Other than his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Tamara Coffey and husband, Rick; daughter, Cathy Harmon; grandchildren, Kirsten Coffey; Corbin Coffey; and Aubrey Harmon and fiancé, Dillon Mangum; sisters, Brejetta Wilson, Carolyn Banks; brother, Ronnie Wilson and wife, Emily, all of Concord; brother-in-law, Ronnie McIntosh and wife, Midge of Burnsville; and his precious dog, Lily. A Celebration of Mr. Wilson’s life will be held at First Baptist Church of Whitnel on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 3:30 PM with Pastor Sam Craven, Pastor Don Ingle, and Pastor Steve Hedgecock officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM prior to the service.
