It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness we announce the passing of Roger Dale Cozart, a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. Roger left this world peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Roger was born in Lenoir, NC, on March 8, 1952, to Lester Smith Cozart and Margaret Curtis Cozart.
Roger enjoyed a long career in maintenance management with Associated Hardwoods in Granite Falls, NC. He was the kind of man who could fix just about anything, and he believed in common sense and hard work. He loved being around kids, and teasing and "picking on" others were his love language.
Roger loved spending time with his family, whether it was at the beach or campground or just hanging out. When he was not working or spending time with loved ones, he could often be found on the golf course at Granada Farms enjoying a round of golf with his treasured buddies.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester Smith Cozart, Jr. and Gary Steven Cozart, and his brother-in-law, Joe Tolbert.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Glenda (his P-Nut), son, David Severt (Shannon), daughters Heather Severt (R.J.) and Shelley Simmons (Todd), sisters Irene Tolbert (Joe) and Debbie Richardson (Jack), brother Scott Cozart (Sarah), grandchildren Josh Severt, Kaleigh Seagle, Maddie Seagle, Luk Severt, Emily Bryant (Hunter), Amber Gragg (lan), and Steven Simmons, greatgrandchildren, Aubree Gragg, Windom Gragg, and Nolan Bryant, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Roger's life will be held on Friday, March 6, at Evans Funeral Service. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Amorem Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Ave., Lenoir, NC.
