Roy Bruce Holman, age 90, of Lenoir passed away January 9, 2018, at the NC State Veterans Home in Black Mountain, NC.Bruce was born May 7, 1927, in Todd, NC, to the late Claude and Gertrude Holman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hoke Holman, his paternal grandparents, Roby and Margaret Cox Holman of Todd, NC, and his maternal grandparents, Hamilton and Jenny Turner of Wilkesboro, NC.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII. He retired from Bernhardt Furniture Ind. after 58 years working at Plant 3. He was one of the last two (2) charter members of West Lenoir Baptist Church. He sang 17 years with The Melody Four Quartet and was a member of the Gideons.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Robert B. Holman (Linda) and his daughter, Elizabeth (Libby) Triplett (Ralph) of Lenoir. One sister, Betty Hawkins; two brothers, Dwight T. Holman (Mary) of Clermont, FL, and Howard W. Holman of NC State Veterans Home, Black Mountain, NC.Six Grandchildren, Josh Triplett (Wendy) of Taylorsville, Caleb Triplett (Ashley), of Lenoir, Treg Holman (Savannah) of Hampstead, NC, Meleisa Shelton (George) of Monroe, NC, Andrea Lawing of Gastonia, NC, Whitney Chung of Tipton, GA. Nephews, Kevin Hawkins (Hope), Gary Hawkins (Lorie), Max Hoke (Doris) of Lenoir and Nieces, Patty Cary (Ernie) of Clermont, FL, and Shirley Brown of Morganton. Ten Great-Grandchildren, and one Great-Great Grandchild. Other relatives from Ashe County. Special caregiver, Barbara Ann Byrd of Lenoir.
Services for Bruce Holman will be Saturday, January 13th, 2018, at West Lenoir Baptist Church with receiving friends from 12:30 - 2:00 pm, and Service at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Orchard Dr., Lenoir, NC.Pallbearers will be Josh Triplett, Caleb Triplett, Treg Holman, Jeremy Brookshire, Rick Greene and Jeff Hoover.Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday School Class, Kevin Hawkins, Gary Hawkins and other friends.
