Ruth Adkins Ferguson, NC- Mrs. Ruth Taylor Adkins, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. She was born in Caldwell County on September 9, 1927 to the late Glen Taylor and Jesse Link Taylor. She was married to Clyde Troy Adkins of the residence for more than 67 years. Mrs. Adkins spent all but the last five years of her life living in Lenoir before moving to Ferguson. Mrs. Adkins was a devoted wife and a wonderful homemaker, loving nothing more than taking care of her sons. In her later years she loved traveling with her many friends. She and her husband were devoted members of West Lenoir Baptist Church for many years where she enjoyed singing in the choir. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Alan E. Adkins. Other than her husband Mrs. Adkins is survived by her sons, Ronnie Lee Adkins and wife, Debra of Charlotte; Eric Troy Adkins and wife, Debra of Ferguson; brother, Walter Taylor and wife, Sue of Richmond, VA; sisters, Catherine Profitt and husband, Bill of Salt Lake City, UT and Mavis Fleming of Newport News, VA; grandchildren, Danielle Adkins of Charlotte; Scott Adkins of Lenoir; David Adkins of Morganton; Kim Keil of Conover; Nichole Parga of Ferguson; Angela Perez of Wilkesboro; and three great-grandchildren. A celebration of Mrs. Adkins life will be held at West Lenoir Baptist Church on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 2:30 PM with Pastor Rick Safriet and Pastor James Lockee officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 prior to the service.
