Ruth Wells

Mrs. Ruth Hendrix Wells, age 91, of Lenoir passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at her home. Born January 7, 1930 in Caldwell County, Ruth was the daughter of the late James Malachi and Joyce Scott Hendrix. Ruth worked many years as a loving nurse at Lenoir Healthcare.She had a degree in Theology and was an ordained Minister.She loved reading her Bible and taught Sunday School for many years.She was a member of the Chesterfield Church of God.In her youthful years, she attended Laytown Mennonite Brethren Church and Unity Holy Church of God.Ruth was an artist and loved drawing.She also collected rocks from all over the world. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Lamont Wells, Sr.; a son, Samuel Lamont Wells, Jr.; and six brothers. Surviving relatives include her children, Teresa Witherspoon (husband Virgil), Ivy Bryant (husband Keith) and Schylur Wells, Sr. (wife Lou); Five Grandchildren, Winter Wells, Ronnie Hood, Erika Glaser, Stephanie Luce and Schylur Wells, Jr.; 14 Great Grandchildren; she is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Elder Robert Hayes officiating.Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
