Lucille Sherrill

Sally “Lucille” Turnmire Sherrill 85, of Lenoir passed away at Amorem on Friday, June 13, 2025 with her family by her side, after a long decline of health. She was born on January 22, 1940 in Watauga County to the late William “Lee” Turnmire and Mamie Belle Coffey Turnmire. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Grady Turnmire, Nina Coffey, Pauline Coffey, Vilas Turnmire, Gene Turnmire, William Turnmire, and an infant sister Betsy Ann Turnmire.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 66 years Eugene “Ray” Sherrill, her children Gary Sherrill (Mary), Lori Sherrill Moody (Tim), Alan Sherrill (Kim), and her grandchildren Ben Moody (fiancé Savannah Franklin), William Sherrill, Holly Sherrill Hargett (Mark), Victoria Sherrill, Catherine Sherrill, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lucille was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a hard worker and retired from Bernhardt Furniture after 26 years of service. She was a faithful member of her church for 66 years.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 on Monday, June 16, 2025 at Tabernacle Advent Christian Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends an hour prior to the service from 11:00 until 12:00. Rev. Joshua Baker and Rev. Frank Hall will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Sherrill, Alan Sherrill, Ben Moody, Mark Hargett, Victoria Sherrill, Catherine Sherrill, and James Lutton. Honorary pallbearers will be William Sherrill, Tim Moody, and Richard Coffey. Memorials may be made to Tabernacle Advent Christian Church, PO Box 596 Lenoir, NC 28645.
