Sam Norton

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Sam Norton, age 32, of Lenoir, went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care after a 3 year battle with osteosarcoma. Born April 6, 1977 in Massachusetts, Sam enjoyed boating and spending time with his kids. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. Sam is survived by his wife, Ashley Gryder Norton of the home; 2 children, Shae Norton and Taylor Norton, both of the home; his mother and step-father, Avis and Donald Hayes of Greer, SC; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Booth and husband Paul; Veronica Trotto and husband Scott; 3 brothers, Shawn Gleason and wife Laura, James Gleason and Luke Norton; his father-in-law, Dale Gryder of Lenoir; mother-in-law, Patricia Gryder of Lenoir; brother-in-law, Cory Gryder and fiancé, Rachel Widener, and several other relatives. A celebration of Sam?s life will be held 3:00 PM Monday, December 21, 1009 at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Reeves and Reverend Sam Craven officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 7 until 9 PM at Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
