Sarah Jean Hollars, age 84, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at her residence. She was born in Burke County on September 11, 1941 to the late Grover Cleveland Sumpter and Lula Jane Griffin Sumpter.
She will remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed books, sewing and quilting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Hollars; brothers, Glen Sumpter, Harold Sumpter; and sister, Mildred West.
Sarah Jean is survived by her children, Joseph “Joey” Hollars and wife, Rhonda; Julie Hollars; grandsons, Caleb Hollars and wife, Michaela; Jacob Hollars; and other family members.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 from 11:00 until 12:00.
A graveside service will be held immediately after the visitation at 1:00 PM at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
