It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Scotty Sue Bryant, a beloved member of the Lenoir community, who left this world peacefully at Shaire Center Nursing Center on Saturday, February 21st, 2026. Scotty was born on Thursday, September 19th, 1940, to Graham and Mammie Reid. She is preceeded in death by her parents, Graham and Mammie Reed, and the love of her life, Bruce Bryant.
Following her graduation from Gamewell Collettsville High School, Scotty attended Lenoir Rhyne University. After receiving her teaching degree, she began teaching at Gamewell Elementary and later moved to Lenoir Junior High School. She attended Appalachian State University and received her Masters Degree in Public School Counseling. Scotty dedicated her career to serving others as a compassionate and insightful counselor for over 30 years in Caldwell County, touching many lives with her empathy, wisdom, and unwavering support.
Scotty was an avid reader and collected books from the many states and countries she visited. In her spare time she loved to knit, crochet, and sew. Bruce and Scotty loved to travel and attend local baseball games.
Scotty's life was a testament to kindness, and her legacy of love and service will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and the genuine interest she took in others' well-being made her both a cherished friend and a valued confidant.
Those lef to cherish her memory are sister-in-law, Lioona Bryant, nephews, Carl Jr., Brant (Joy), Robyn Bryant (Tonya), cousins, Shelby Jean McCall (Danny), and JoAnn Carlton, and God-daughter Lorie Sullivan (Bill). She is also survived by a number of great nephews, great nieces, and cousins.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Scotty Reid Bryant will be held on Sunday, March 1st, 2026 at Evans Funeral Service located at 1070 Taylorsville Road, Lenoir, NC. Receiving of friends will begin at 1:00 pm, with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 pm.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciaton for the love and care that Scotty received over the past three years at Shaire Center. Memorials can be made to Amorem, 902 Kirkwood Street NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
