Shelly Marie King Blythe, of Caldwell County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 24, 2026, at Grace Hospital in Morganton, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family. Shelly was born on August 17, 1977, in Caldwell County to her father, Terry Wayne King, and her mother, Virginia Del Smith. She was a proud graduate of South Caldwell High School and continued her education at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute, where she earned her associate degree in X-ray technology. Shelly dedicated many years of her professional life to Neptco/Chase Corporation, where she began in manufacturing and worked her way up to become a Regional Human Resource Manager. She was known for her strong work ethic, dedication, and leadership. Above all, Shelly will be remembered for her deep love for her family, her unwavering commitment to those she cared about, and her passion for Duke basketball. She is survived by her devoted husband, Shawn P. Blythe; her children, daughter Elizabeth Blythe and son James Blythe; her cherished grandchild, Archer Blythe, daughter-in-law, Shania Hamid; her mother Virginia Del Smith and her siblings, Wendy King Boothe and Lindsey Starnes.

Shelly’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, which was many.

A service to celebrate Shelly’s life will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 @ 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend David Blythe officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service.
