Sherry Helderman Kelley

August 11, 1964 — June 10, 2011

Lenoir, NC – Mrs. Sherry Lynn Helderman Kelley, age 46, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2011 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care in Hudson. Born August 11, 1964 in Caldwell County, Sherry was a daughter of the late Jack Wilson Helderman and Mrs. Edith Smith Helderman of Lenoir and the wife of Mark Kelley of the home. Sherry was a very active member of Lower Creek Baptist Church where she had served as treasurer for the Baptist Young Women.  She was committed to homeschooling her two precious daughters, Faith and Hope. She was the treasurer for the Lenoir Marlin Swim Team and helped register voters at Lower Creek #2. She had worked at Singer Furniture, Broyhill Furniture and Bernhardt Main Office, but her favorite job of all was being a stay at home Mom. She was active in the cancer support group, “Arm in Arm.” Sherry enjoyed spending time with her best friend, her mother. She was so grateful for all the loving care provided to her and her family from the Lower Creek Church Family and Sisters. Other than her husband and mother, Sherry is survived by her two daughters, Faith and Hope Kelley of the home and three brothers, Larry Helderman and wife Charlene of Hudson; Terry Helderman and wife Nancy of Ocean Isle Beach; Gary Helderman and wife Cheryl of Hudson and several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. A celebration of Sherry’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Lower Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Todd Braswell officiating. Burial will follow in the Lower Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 PM at Lower Creek Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be: Jeff Drum, Richard Helderman, Scott Melton, Casey Helderman, Greg Cornett, Julian Baker, Steve Branch and Darrin Davidson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Helderman, Blaine Aldridge and The Wig Bank of Caldwell County. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Education Fund for the Kelley Girls, c/o Lower Creek Baptist Church, 635 Lower Creek Drive, Lenoir, NC 28645 or Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645 or to one’s favorite charity.
