September 13, 1950 — December 19, 2017

On December 19th, 2017, after a tenacious battle with cancer, Sylvia (Sib) Walser Heavner, 67, died at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir, NC.She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.She leaves this world to rejoice in Heaven with her loving husband, Dan Heavner, her oldest son, Shawn Woodruff, her father, Howard Walser, and her mother, Marjorie Walser.Family left behind to survive her memory include one son, Kenny Heavner, his wife Jennifer, and her precious grandson, Skylar.Also, she is survived by one brother, Howard (Hot Rod) Walser and wife, Althea; two sisters, Sandra Adams and husband Eddie, Debbie Storie and husband Bernie; two nieces, Brandy Maxwell and Karen Maye; and one great niece, Chloe Maxwell.Survivors also include many other dear relatives and friends. For over 20 years, Sylvia was a hard-working lady employed as a leather cutter Bernhardt Plant 11.She was known for her deep love for her two sons and her grandson.Not a day would pass without her sharing a smile and a story about her boys with a coworker or friend.She showed her devotion to her family through her loving care of her belated husband and son.Later, she courageously fought cancer to spend her last remaining months with her family.She will forever be missed by those who knew and loved her. Family and friends will celebrate Sylvia’s life on Friday, December 22nd by receiving friends at Evans Funeral Service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM followed by the funeral at 4:00 PM.Immediately following the service, burial will commence at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.Pastor Daniel Trantham of Setzer’s Creek Baptist Church will officiate the service.Pallbearers include Clint Maxwell, Rick Shoemake, Richard Shoemake, Colby Shoemake, Riley Shoemake and Travis Scoggin. The Heavner family would like to give a special than k you to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care of Lenoir.In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to Hospice at 902 Kirkwood St. NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
