Teresa Adkins Larson, 53, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on March 30, 2026 at Amorem Hospice Care in Hudson, North Carolina.

She was born on April 3, 1972 in Beckley, West Virginia to Late Joey Adkins and Rebecca Kay Adkins. Teresa Adkins Larson grew up in Oak Hill, West Virginia and graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1990 and Fairmont State University in 1994.

She worked as a teacher at Gamewell Elementary School for 26 years. She was known for touching the lives of countless students. Teresa was a dedicated teacher who brought learning to life for her students, fostering a love for learning that lasted beyond the classroom. She was also known for inspiring students and colleagues alike. She was also the President of Alpha Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Teresa’s life was one of faithfulness, and perseverance. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter, Kayanna, and her husband, Steve, scrapbooking, shopping, spending time in her pool and the beach. Teresa was a proud West Virginia lover and a volunteer at Hibriten High School where she established the PAC parent group. Teresa loved to read to classes around the county and see her former students. She will be remembered for her dedication to her students, her smart, kind, compassionate, charismatic, and unwavering love for everyone. Teresa’s legacy is one of love, inspiration and quiet strength.

Teresa's life was one of faithfulness and perseverance. After her initial cancer diagnosis 14 years ago, Teresa displayed incredible courage and unwavering hope. She fought with determination and grace, inspiring everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Steven Larson; her daughter, Kayanna Larson; her mother, Rebecca Adkins; her brother, Kenneth Adkins and sister-in-law Kelly Adkins; her niece; Madison Adkins; her nephew Wyatt Adkins, fiancé Tesla Smith, and great niece Kate Adkins. She was preceded in death by her father, Joey Adkins and sister Patricia Adkins.

A celebration of Teresa’s life will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 12:00 PM Lenoir Presbyterian Church in Lenoir, North Carolina, with Reverend Eric Bartel and Reverend Rob Hinman officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at Lenoir Presbyterian Church in Lenoir, North Carolina from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

We ask that everyone wear bright, spring colors in honor of Teresa.

The family respectfully, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carolina Oncology Specialists in honor of Teresa.
