Collettsville – Terry Shelton Whisnant, 71, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Caldwell County on June 22, 1946 to the late Joe Junior Whisnant and Hazel Howell Whisnant. Terry loved the Lord, his family and farming. He was of Baptist Faith. Terry was a veteran of the United States Army and spent more than 40 years, his entire working career, with Bernhardt Furniture. He retired from Bernhardt Plant 7 as the supervisor for the machine room. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emogene Greer Whisnant; son, Darrell Berry; grandson, William Paul Berry; brother, Daniel Whisnant; and sisters, Deborah Whisnant Lovins and Cynthia Whisnant Roark. Terry is survived by his daughter, Crystal Whisnant Reyes and husband, Eustolio “Pedro”; son, William Berry; daughters, Karen Mast and husband, Ed; Sharon Wynn; brother, David Whisnant and wife, Joyce; grandchildren, Jacob and Lily Reyes; Melissa Townsend; Jamey and Jordan Wynn; Adam, Dylan and Nathan Berry; and 11 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Terry’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 21, 2017 at New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Daniel Buchanan officiating. Burial will be in the Whisnant Family Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Caldwell County Veteran’s Honor Guard.
