Cary, NC- Mrs. Thelma Iola Wilson Beach, age 93, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Phoenix Assisted Care in Cary. A native of Lenoir, she was born March 18, 1922 to the late Rufus Henry and Edna Elizabeth Abernathy Wilson. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Darwin Beach; and her three children, Pamela Beach Nourse; Sandra Gail Beach and Gary Beach and sisters, Alma Caudle, Elizabeth Pipes and Joyce Blackburn. Thelma loved her work helping women choose their clothes, especially businesswomen. She worked for many years at Nowell’s Clothing Store at North Hills in Raleigh. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh where she enjoyed participating in many church functions, especially the Choral Choir and the Prime Timer’s Choir. She loved baking pound cakes and sharing them with her family and friends. She loved collecting antiques, especially depression glass and biscuits jars. She will always be remembered for being a well-dressed and very dignified lady. Mrs. Beach is survived by her grandson, Ashley Frazier and wife Anesa and their children, Ava, Adalyn and Ansley; her son-in-law, Michael Nourse; her step-grandson, Michael “Bart” Nourse and wife Lee and their son Dylan; her step-granddaughter, Dawne Nourse Haley and husband Jon and their children, Nathan, Noah and Eva; a brother, Joseph “Joe” Wilson and wife Jennie of Lenoir and sisters, Alta McGowan of Raleigh and Jean Smith of Lenoir. A celebration of Mrs. Beach’s life will be held 12:00 Noon, Saturday, December 5, 2015 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir with Dr. Jeff Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday from 11:00 until 12:00.
