Theodore “Ted” Harry Dukelow, born September 28, 1941, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, May 6, 2025 in Granite Falls, NC.
Ted enjoyed sharing God’s word, singing tenor in choir, spending time with his family and friends, ancestry (started Dukelows around the World), reading, golfing, fishing, traveling, gardening, and hiking. Daily he would find abandoned golf balls in his backyard at Granda Farms. He was in Gideons for 7 years, studied many years in BSF, and made two missionary trips to Russia with Bob Achilles.
He will be dearly missed by family. His wife of 20 years, Kathleen Dukelow and her son, Evan (Sheena and their children Rayland and Emmett) Prout. His children from a previous marriage: Rod (Heidi) Dukelow, Jamie (Melanie and her children: Shiloh, Moriah, Noah and granddaughter Rose) Dukelow, Holli (Joseph) Polizzotto, and Rick Dukelow. Surviving grandchildren are: Kaitlin (Gustavo Lopez), Ryan (Yvette), Lorynn (Drew), Devon (Althea), and Ella, Jack, Gigi Polizzotto; three great-grandchildren: Katherine, Elena and Mayla Jean. Surviving are five siblings: Joan Lanoie, Francis Walker, Lois (Ron) Parker, Gerald (Gayle), and Keith (Denise), and numerous nephews and nieces and their children.
Ted enlisted in the Canadian National Guard in the 1950s. In 1959, he graduated in Electronics from DeVry Technical Institute. In 1960-61, he attended Fairwood Bible College in New Hampshire. Became so homesick for family and went back home to Canada, then decided in 1963 to enlist in the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Gordon in Augusta, Georgia, and Ft. Dixon, New Jersey, and Ft. Riley, Kansas.
Ted was part of the Army Air Calvary and worked on Aviation-Communications. He was the best marksman of two battalions. He was given a special mission in Korea but the orders were revoked just a day before leaving. Fortunately, he was never stationed in Vietnam. He became a naturalized US citizen in 1970.
He was an electrician for 67 years. Held a Journeyman electrician license in Manitoba Canada. Had a masters electricians license in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Worked 25 years at Hewlett Packard Corporation in the Bay area as a project manager in Facilities Engineering overlooking 5 sites.
Ted worked in Oklahoma for 13 years, and in North Carolina for 3 years.
Predeceased are his parents, Harry Whittom and Ethel “May” (Creak) Dukelow and his sister, Marilyn Dukelow, and two brother-in-laws, Denis Lanoie and Rick Walker.
His body was cremated by Evan’s Funeral Services in Lenoir. A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, November 23 at 2 pm for receiving and 3 pm for his service at Hudson First Baptist, 345 Main Street, Hudson, North Carolina.
