Tommy Ray Coffey, 80, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 in Hickory, NC.

Tommy was born in Linville, Avery County on July 9, 1945 to Lloyd and Cenie Coffey.

He was preceded in death by his son Matthew Coffey of Lenoir, NC and parents Lloyd and Cenie Coffey of Roseboro, NC, grandparents Daniel and Jodie Coffey; Sherman and Bunea Coffey of Roseboro, NC; brother Lloyd Coffey Jr. “Bun” of Granite Falls, NC.

Tommy is survived by his wife Carol Ann Coffey and his children Mikeal and Deziray Coffey, Darren and Erica Coffey, Megan Coffey, Jordan Coffey, Lisa and Tim Pride and Kevin and Connie Coffey, brothers, Ken and wife Judy Coffey, Randy and wife Sue Coffey, both of of Linville, NC; Gerald and wife Maxine Coffey of Gamewell, NC; sisters, Nancy and husband Burl Earp of Granite Falls, NC; Sherry Reece of Elk Park, NC, grandchildren Easton Coffey; Raelyn and Savannah Walsh; John-Luke Coffey; Bella-Rae Coffey; Brittany Pride, Timmy Pride; Dustin Coffey; Zachary and Misty Coffey; Ben and Kianna Burch, and numerous loved nieces and nephews.

Tommy owned Coffey’s Insulation and Guttering with his brother Gerald Coffey, and he was also in construction where he built many houses in the community. He was an avid hunter and loved to be outdoors. Tommy was a wonderful family man.

Tommy wrote the church drama called “I Looked All Over Heaven for You”.

A celebration of Tommy’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at 2:30 PM with Pastor Nicky Waters officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Mikeal Coffey, Darren Coffey, Jordan Coffey, Tim Pride, Zachary Coffey and Ben Burch. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Coffey and Timmy Pride.
