Mr. William “Vance” Brown, age 77, of Lenoir went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 2, 2018. Born October 6, 1940 in Watauga County, Vance was a son of the late George and Ella Brown.He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.Vance enjoyed gardening and was an avid fisherman.Vance also loved spending time with animals, especially “Big Ears”, his favorite cow.In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by three brothers, Buck, James and Reverend Roy Brown; two sisters, Betty Harmon and Ann Shoemaker; and a son in law, Jerry Johnson. Survivors include his best friend andloving wife of 58 years , Edith Killian Brown of the Home; two daughters, Vanda Johnson (fiancé Steve Hipps) and Karen Ward ( husband Ronnie); two sons, DJ and Devin of the Home; a great grandchild, Paul, of the Home;his grandchildren, Candace, Josh (wife Valerie), Thomas, Jimmy, Katie and Emily; four other great grandchildren, Gauge, Andrea, Madilyn and Jude; a sister, Georgia Myers; he is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Vance’s life will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Hillcrest Baptist Church at 10:00 AM with Reverend Kenneth Poarch officiating.Interment will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir.Serving as pallbearers will be Junior Trivette, Danny Miller, Josh Johnson, Steve Hipps, Thomas Ward, Jimmy Ward and Tracey Hyler.
