Wanda Ann Cornett, beloved wife, momma, sister, aunt, mawmaw, and great-mawmaw, went home peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at her home surrounded by the family she loved so deeply.
She was preceded in death by her precious sons, Lloyd Eric Cornett, whom she missed dearly every day, and Cory Cornett, whom she never met earthside. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Joe Ray Keller and Joann Keller; her brother, Jimmy Dean Keller; and her beloved grandmother, Stella Grindstaff.
Wanda was an extraordinary woman who was loved by so many. She had a way of touching every life she met. She was warm, funny, hardworking, and full of love. She could make a stranger feel like family in just a few minutes. Her home was always open, and she welcomed people in with a kindness that made them feel they belonged there.
More than anything, Wanda loved her husband, Lloyd, beyond measure. For 55 beautiful years, they shared a love story that was steady, faithful, and rare. They were devoted to one another in the truest sense of the word. Through the hard seasons, the joyful seasons, and all the ordinary days in between, they stood side by side.
Their love was not just spoken—it was lived out every day. It was in the way they looked at each other, the way they cared for one another, the way they carried each other through heartache and through happiness. They built a life together, raised a family together, and stayed dedicated to one another through every chapter. Theirs was the kind of love many only dream of—a once-in-a-lifetime love rooted in loyalty, friendship, and a deep knowing that they belonged to each other.
Wanda was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Granite Falls. She loved the Lord with her whole heart, and she loved her family just as fiercely.
She was a devoted mother to Lloyd Eric Cornett(wife Teia) , Lora Michelle Vance (husband David) , and Tabitha Renee Cornett.
She was an incredible mawmaw to her 16 grandchildren: Makaylia, Shelby(Husband John), Landon(wife Gracie), Chloe, Malachi, Katana, Emily (husband Joey) , Josie, David, Jonathan, Leland, Azaylea, Sammy, Benjamin, Lily Joy, and Faith Hope.
She was also a proud and loving great-mawmaw to Breelan, Maddox, and Sawyer.
She deeply loved her sister, Lillie Gaye Lowery, and always lit up when she visited. They shared a special bond that brought her comfort, joy, and peace throughout her life.
Wanda found beauty in the little things others often missed. She loved all shades of purple, yellow roses, butterflies, and hummingbirds. She loved to travel, with the beach always being her favorite place. She loved Dolly Parton, shoes, purses, coffee, and sweets. Frappes were one of her favorites, especially frappe dates with her granddaughter Lily Joy.
She loved working in her flower garden and making her house a home. She loved music and dancing, and she could always find a reason to laugh. She was quick-witted and funny in a way that made even ordinary moments memorable.
She loved her animals, especially her little dog Molly, who held a very special place in her heart.
Wanda leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, laughter, and devotion. She loved deeply, gave freely, and left her mark on everyone blessed enough to know her.
Her family will carry her with them always—in purple sunsets, yellow roses, hummingbirds, butterflies, the sound of music, and in the kind of love she and Lloyd shared that will remain long after goodbye.
She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and loved always.
