Wanda Auton Johnson

Wanda Auton Johnson, 72, of Granite Falls, NC, passed away at home on Monday, July 20, 2026.

Wanda was born in Caldwell County, NC on February 5, 1954, to the late Victor Lee Auton and Hazel Teasley Auton.

Wanda worked at Hammary, Broyhill and Shurford Mill. She received her GED from CCC&TI.  Her hobbies and interests were reading her Bible, telling everyone about Jesus, praying and attending church. She also enjoyed art and animals.

Wanda was passionate about her Bible and leading others to Christ.

In addition to her parents, Wanda is preceded in death by her brother, Ted Auton; two nephews, and a brother-in-law.

Those left to cherish Wanda’s memory are husband, Terry Johnson, sons, Victor L. Auton, Brad Hamby, Andrew Hamby; grandson, Lance Auton; sisters, Anita Rominger, Denise Wilburn, Roseen Nelson, Joan Edminsten, their husbands, and many nieces, nephews, and her beloved dog Pippa.

Wanda will be remembered for her love and dedication to our Lod and Savior, Jesus Christ, her passion to lead everyone to Salvation, kindness, love for everyone she met, her love for animals, and how she wouldn’t even watch anything on TV with a bad word in it.

Wanda will be missed greatly.

A celebration of Wanda’s life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Crossroads Community Church in Hudson, NC.
