Wayne Hawkins

Wayne Hawkins Mr. Edward Wayne Hawkins, age 88, of Lenoir, went home to be with the Lord on August 25, 2017 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care, Hudson. Born March 28, 1929 in Caldwell County, Mr. Hawkins was a son of the late William and Barbara Mashburn Hawkins. He is survived by his wife, Betty Holman Hawkins. Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins were married 66 years, and members of West Lenoir Baptist Church for more than 50 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred Hawkins, Mae Jenkins, and Hazel Craig, his brothers, Virgil, Glenn, and Rev. Howard Hawkins. Survivors include his sons, Gary Hawkins (Lori) and Kevin Hawkins (Hope); his sisters, Margie Riley, and Bonnie Coffey (Ron), brother, Ray Hawkins (Doris); his grandchildren, Suzanne Beard (Jason), Danielle Hawkins, Mikeal Hawkins (Brittany), Melanie Hatcher (Dave), and Justin Price; also six great – grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mr. Hawkins life will be held on Monday, August 28, 2017 at 3:00 PM at West Lenoir Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Safriet officiating.Pallbearers will be nephews and special friends.Honorary Pallbearers will be nephews and Mr. Hawkins Sunday School class. The family will receive friends August 28, 2017 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at West Lenoir Baptist Church. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
