Wayne Bruce Sams

Granite Falls, NC- Mr. Wayne Bruce Sams, age 67, of Granite Falls passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Born October 29, 1949 in New York, Wayne was a son of the late James Lee and Grace Lillian Stengle Sams.He was a veteran of the United States Army where he was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Air Medal.Wayne loved watching any kind of sports and spending time with his family.He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Sams; a son, Michael Sams; and a brother, James Sams, Jr. Survivors include a daughter, Angela Sams; two step children, Greg Winkler (wife Jessica) and Angela Winkler both of Hudson; his sisters, Vivian Brown, Vera Greer, Mary Sams and Patty Randolph; a brother, Charlie Sams; his grandchildren, Savannah Smith, Chasity Gragg, Gabriel Sams, Victoria Compton, Isziah Sloan, Jyhiem Grant, Ashley Sams, Amyeal Winkler, Rya Wright, Jozlyne Winkler, Gracie Winkler and Malachi Winkler; his great grandchildren, Gavin Smith, Taylor Gragg and Grayson Gragg. A memorial service celebrating Wayne’s life will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Bible Baptist Church at 11: 00 AM with Pastor Dennis Whitt officiating.
