Wayne Shatley

Wayne Edward Shatley, age 83, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Amorem in Hudson. Born in Caldwell County, NC, Wayne came into this world on May 19, 1943, the son of the late Joe M. Shatley and Zella Green Shatley. He was also preceded in death by several family members, Lennie Mae Shatley; Joe C. Shatley; Isaac Ml. Shatley; Rufus L. Shatley; Harvey M. Shatley; Jesse J. Shatley; Robert J. Shatley; Duck Garland Shatley; Birtis M. Shatley; Margie Stella Austin Shatley; as well as nieces and nephews.

Wayne lived a life rooted in the soil of his beloved Caldwell County. His passion for farming was evident in his dedication to cultivating his land, tending to his crops, and raising rare, prize-winning roosters. His devotion to agriculture and his community was a testament to his hardworking and nurturing spirit.

Wayne is survived by his son, Darrell Dwayne Shatley, and daughter-in-law, Leda Gragg Shatley, of Carey’s Flat; and his daughter, Donna Shatley Nelson, of Lenoir; grandsons, "Ben" Benjamin Shatley and Timothy Darrell Shatley.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Wayne's life and legacy at a graveside service which will be held at the Shatley Cemetery on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at 2:30 PM. The service will be officiated by Pastor Nicky Waters and Pastor Brian Auton, offering words of comfort and remembrance.

His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit will forever remain among the fields he loved and the family who loved him dearly.
