Mr. William Walter Hamilton, 87, of Lenoir, died January 3, 2011 at his home, following a long illness. Mr. Hamilton was born in Brooklyn, New York, was a decorated veteran in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and graduated from the University of Michigan in 1947. His career as a naval architect spanned over fifty years. Mr. Hamilton was predeceased by his eldest son, William T. Hamilton and a grandson Joshua Kuhn. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Reba F. Hamilton (Mauldin), a daughter, Elizabeth, four sons Richard, Michael, David, Joshua, and their wives and seven grandchildren. Mr. Hamilton will be cremated and will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. A memorial service will be held at the Crossroads Community Church, 1501-B Norwood Street, Lenoir, on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 1:00 PM.
