Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Georgia Knight Shaver Pennell, age 80, of Lenoir, died Friday, January 7, 2011 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Born August 19, 1930 in Caldwell County, Mrs. Pennell was a daughter of the late George “Hacket†and Bertie Arney Knight. Mrs. Pennell was a member of Union Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Shaver; step-mother, Pearl Knight and two sisters, Catherine Phillips and Willa Mae Nichols. She is survived by her husband, Reuben Pennell of the home; three daughters, Elaine Tolbert and husband Dan; Debbie Swan and husband Steve; Brenda Lackey and husband Rick; five step-children, Ron Pennell and wife Judy; Diane Prestwood and husband Larry; Debbie Yott and husband Phillip; Kim Waldon and husband John; Robin Haney; one sister, Irene Bush; one brother J.C. Knight and wife Marceline; special friend Ed Haney; one grandson, Jody Taylor and wife Jennifer; two great-grandchildren, Griffin and Jake Taylor; 9 step-grandchildren and 15 step-great-grandchildren. A celebration of Mrs. Pennell’s life will be held during the 11:00 A.M worship hour on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at Union Baptist Church with Reverend Myron Davis officiating. A private burial will take place in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 9, 2011 in the Union Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
