Mrs. Virginia Ruth Bare Greene, age 88, of Lenoir, passed away at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. on Sunday, May 14, 2017. Born July 10, 1928 in Wilkes County, Virginia was a daughter of the late Walter and Gertrude Bare. Virginia was a loving and kind wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was affectionately called “Nanny” by all. She loved to feed all visitors and she loved her cats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Greene; a daughter, Barbara Ann Kamp; a son, Buddy Ray Greene; one sister and two brothers. Survivors include her son, Steve Greene (Carlene), her daughter-in- law, Diane Workman; Grandchildren, Kimberly G. Sipes (Michael), Meredith G. Curtis (Clarence Jr.), Robbie McRary (Naomi) and Byron Greene (Tina); Great-Grandchildren, Brittany, Ashley, Caroline, Collette, Jake, Sam, Sarah, Logan, Anna Lee and Brayden ; Great-Great- Grandchildren, Zane, Chance, Delilah, and Colton; one niece and three nephews; a special neighbor and friend, Peyton Rice. The family would like to give a special thanks to Mary Hoyle and Amy Carroll for their wonderful care to their Mom and the staff at Caldwell Hospice – Kirkwood. A graveside service will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jim Lee officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Caldwell Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.evansfuneralservice.com.
